Abstracts
Abstracts work similarly to indexes, but the citations include an abstract, or summary of what each work is about. Like indexes, abstracts tend to be quite specialized in topic. You will want to take a look at the following books, depending on what the library carries:
Ward's Private Company Profiles
Biological Abstracts
Chemical Abstracts
Index Chemicus
Psychological Abstracts
Excerpta Medica
Higher Education Abstracts
Aviation Tradescan
Historical Abstracts
Which of these does Palo Alto carry? How are they organized? For what would you use them?
Now, many of these resources have recently moved online, so we shall need to discuss that venue.
