Welcome to my web site. I am a progressive and a Quaker. I teach Information Studies (Research & Information Technology) and Philosophy at Palo Alto ollege. This site is aimed particularly at my students, all of whom I introduce to critical thinking and its application to their lives and what's happening in the real world right now.

Two of the most critical elements of critical thinking are open-mindedness and independent judgment. Once these mental characteristics begin to form, a natural result is a desire to apply this new mindset to current events. The purpose of this page is to facilitate keeping up with the REAL news--as opposed to gossip (who had a wreck, shot who, etc.)--and variant interpretations of those events.
