Silky Terriers

"A Silky is a fun-loving, active, mischievous, alert, intelligent, generally outgoing, small dog. Silkys should weigh between 8 and 10 pounds... They have a long (but not floor-length) blue coat, with a tan face, ears, feet, and vent...

"They also have a terrier attitude and outlook on life. Generally, they are active until very late in life, and are often long-lived, to 15 or more years.

"Silky Terriers are great watchdogs as well as companion dogs... the original purpose.. I favor the companion dog theory. I find that they take their job as human companions very seriously. I havve had some dogs who loved to be close to their humans constantly...

"Some people ask if Silkys are noisy dogs who "yap" a lot. Usually that tells me the people have not been around Silkys, as they are not noisy dogs...

"Silkys are mischievous animals, but generally sweet and full of fun...

"Silkys are very good at figuring out if you are really watching them... that makes them a little harder to housetrain..." (Bratton, Vicki. "Silky Terriers." Breed Column. AKC Gazette, Sep. 2003, 69-70).
